Bronny James Benched in Lakers’ Final Summer League Game vs Nuggets

End of the summer for the second year guard.

The Los Angeles Lakers closed out their Summer League campaign without one of their most talked-about players. Bronny James, who had started to find a rhythm in recent games, was ruled out ahead of Friday’s matchup against the Denver Nuggets.

Lakers wrapped up summer play without giving James another shot

It was a surprising move by the team, considering James had just delivered one of his best performances of the summer. In the previous game against Boston, he scored 18 points, grabbed three rebounds, and dished out five assists in 28 minutes. Fans were expecting to see him build on that effort in the finale. Instead, the Lakers chose to rest him.

With the Summer League now finished for Los Angeles, James ends his run on a high note. He showed clear growth from his early outings, and his time on the floor looked more productive with each game. After averaging just 2.3 points during the NBA regular season, he posted 18.6 points per game in G League action and showed flashes of that same form in Vegas.

The decision to sit him may have been about avoiding injury or overuse, but it still left fans disappointed. Friday’s game was the last chance to see James in action before training camp.

Now the focus turns to the fall. With LeBron James potentially entering his final season, the spotlight on Bronny won’t dim anytime soon. The younger James will try to earn real minutes this year and if his summer play was any indication, he will have a case to make.

Denver won the game easily, 106-84 over the Lakers.
