The Golden State Warriors have not been able to do much of anything this offseason while the Jonathan Kuminga situation has hovered over their heads. A new report added context to some of the complications keeping the two parties from finding a resolution.

Jake Fischer dropped his latest round of intel. The primary focus of this one had been on all the evolving situations of the restricted free agents around the NBA. Kuminga, being arguably the biggest one, was naturally a focal point.

Fischer explained that financials had a big role in what has challenged both sides in the offseason so far. A return to the Warriors or a potential sign-and-trade have both been held up as a result.

The NBA insider wrote, "Kuminga's holding pattern has generated the most media attention to date. His agent Aaron Turner has held numerous discussions with Warriors officials in Las Vegas, league sources tell The Stein Line, with the hope of securing a contract — even a short-term contract — that pays at least $25 million in average annual salary … whether that's to stay with the Warriors or switch teams via sign-and-trade."

Fischer went on to explain that a long-term commitment had not generated a ton of interest for the Warriors, at that number. Negotiations with other teams were likewise troubled by other reasons.

Fischer continued, "Sources say that the Warriors have expressed reluctance to go that high in price over a long-term agreement while also seeking some level of first-round draft compensation in any theoretical trade that ships Kuminga elsewhere."

Teams like the Sacramento Kings, Chicago Bulls, and now the Phoenix Suns, were all brought up as potential destinations to finally end this dragged out saga for the Warriors. It remains to be seen how much longer both sides will need to wait for a resolution.
