In a major development, David Ornstein of The Athletic reports that FC Barcelona are advancing in their efforts to sign Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford.

The Blaugrana have made the signing of a new left-winger a top priority. And with Nico Williams snubbing them and Luis Diaz not feasible financially, the La Liga champions have moved in on Rashford.

The England international has been keen on a move to Catalonia since January and appears set to secure his dream switch away from Old Trafford.

Deal in final phase

Indeed, according to Ornstein, Barcelona have launched an offer to sign Rashford on loan for the 2025/26 season with an option to buy.

The proposal has been sent to Manchester United via intermediaries, and the Red Devils have agreed to the idea, although the deal is not entirely done at this point.

Talks are continuing between all parties involved, and the operation is understood to be in its final stages.

As mentioned earlier, Rashford has been desperate to join Barcelona even before he moved to Aston Villa on loan for the second half of the last season.

The 27-year-old attacker has admirers at Barça, due to his versatility and eye for a goal. Moreover, given the Catalans’ financial status, the Manchester United ace makes the most sense out of all their targets for the left flank.

If the deal goes through, Rashford will join Barcelona on a season-long loan deal with the La Liga champions retaining a buy option.

The attacker is on massive wages of £325,000-a-week at Manchester United and will need to take a significant pay cut to join the Catalan giants.
