Fossil Ridge alum and former state champ Kodi Alvord was voted Blue FCU's top college softball player from the Fort Collins area for the 2025 season.
Fossil Ridge softball has run the high school softball scene in Fort Collins for the last 15 years.
And a SaberCat great is now standing out in college, growing into a key utility role for a winning college softball team.
The sophomore hit .316 with a pair of doubles and a perfect fielding percentage, never making an error in 45 chances at first base and catcher for Embry-Riddle University.
Her efforts helped the Eagles go 29-18 overall and 15-15 in the Sunshine State Conference at the NCAA Division II level.
This sophomore season for the Fort Collins native was a considerable step up after playing only five games as a freshman. With two of the Eagles' primary catchers set to graduate, Alvord could play an even more prominent role on the roster next season.
Beyond the softball diamond, Alvord is a standout student-athlete. Embry-Riddle is considered "The Harvard of the Skies” as one of the world's top universities for aviation and aerospace.
The 2023 Fossil Ridge graduate has made the SSC Commissioner's Honor Roll and the Easton NFCA All-American Scholar Athlete team in 2024 and 2025.
According to her Embry-Riddle bio, Alvord is majoring in aeronautical science and hoping to become a pilot in the Navy.
Alvord was a key part of Fossil Ridge softball's breakthrough 5A state championship team in 2020, earning CHSAA first team all-state honors while hitting .423 with six home runs and 27 RBIs.
SaberCat fans spurred Alvord ahead in a competitive two-way heat, earning 54.6% of the fan vote to beat out seven other local players in college softball:

- Zaelyn Harding, Delaware State (Fossil Ridge)
- Abby Larsen, Regis University (Poudre)

- JoLee Huffaker, Western Nebraska (Poudre)
- Olivia Schramm, Dartmouth (Windsor)
