Martin Payero is especially appreciated outside of Italy. For the 1998-born midfielder currently playing for Udinese, there have been signs of interest from Brazil, particularly from Palmeiras and Atletico Mineiro.

In Europe, Villarreal is currently the club showing the most concrete interest, after an earlier offer from AEK Athens.

As for the valuation – around €10 million, including bonuses – we’re still a bit off the mark. We’ll see if there’s a new offer or an increased bid in the coming days.

Reliable midfielder Payero could leave Udinese

Since signing for Udinese from English club Middlesbrough in 2023 for €3 million, the Argentine has become a reliable member of the Serie A club’s squad.

He has played 54 times for the side in Serie A, scoring three goals and contributing four assists. However, a string of injuries saw the 26-year-old miss 11 games for his club in the 2024-25 season and if a suitable offer comes in, it may be hard for the club to refuse.
