Usyk (23-0) quickly rose up the ladder at heavyweight after holding all the gold at cruiserweight. The Ukrainian beat the likes of Derek Chisora and Anthony Joshua before facing Dubois. He took care of Tyson Fury twice to become the undisputed heavyweight champion.
After failing to beat Joe Joyce, Dubois (22-2) has gone 7-1. Dubois went on a run that saw him beat Jarrell Miller, Filip Hrgovic (for the then-interim IBF belt), and Joshua, all via knockout. He was supposed to fight mandatory challenger Joseph Parker, but fell ill beforehand.
When they fought one another in 2023, it appeared as though Dubois knocked Usyk down. However, a shot that landed was called below the belt. An upset Dubois would lose the fight via knockout.
With Parker waiting and Fury teasing a comeback, the Greenwich-born Dubois is ready to prove he can beat Usyk and earn all the glory at the same place he beat Joshua.
"I know a lot of people that still don't accept me as being The Man, so I've got to make sure I put my stamp on it... I am the man. I don't know why it's like that for us... It's just been the way it is. People talk about his loss and how he's gonna come back and all that... listen, I've got a chance to put it right. I'm gonna do just that,” Dubois told The Ring.
