Clark has now missed 11 games this season...
WNBA Legend Lisa Leslie Gets Completely Honest About Caitlin Clark's New Setback originally appeared on Athlon Sports.
The Indiana Fever saw their three-game winning streak come to an end on Wednesday night, falling to Breanna Stewart and the New York Liberty in their final game before WNBA All-Star Weekend.
Caitlin Clark was not available for the Fever after suffering a groin injury in Tuesday's win over the Connecticut Sun. This was separate from her previous groin injury, when Clark was forced to miss five games. In total, Clark has missed 11 games in the 2025 WNBA season, nearly half of Indiana's schedule.
Former Los Angeles Sparks star Lisa Leslie knows a thing or two about what Clark is going through. The Basketball Hall of Famer dealt with a groin injury in 2006.
At halftime of Fever vs. Liberty, Leslie opened up about Clark's latest setback, revealing everything she had to go through.
"Well, I really feel for Caitlin Clark because I actually had that injury in 2006," Leslie said. "Listen, I was heavily taped around my thigh, around my glute. Just trying to make sure there was enough pressure to hold that groin. The hard part is the groin is an area where you can't just touch and go. Oh it hurts right here. You feel it deep. You have to get a lot of deep treatment whether its ice and heat and rest."
Leslie continued to discuss how Clark's groin injury could linger.
"Well, Caitlin Clark, she can't find a lot of rest right now because she's midseason," Leslie added. "But I think that injury is really tough because it lingers. No matter how much medicine you take, you can feel fine, you get back out there. One move, one change of direction and boom, you're right back feeling that same type of pain. So it's gonna be a tough injury that she's gonna have to manage."
Finally, Leslie noted that she still feels the effects of her previous groin injury.
"I can still feel that injury linger. I don't know if it ever goes away, you just learn to manage and play with it."
