Clark and Reese have one of the bigger rivalries in the WNBA...
WNBA Legend Sheryl Swoopes Has Strong Words For Caitlin Clark, Angel Reese originally appeared on Athlon Sports.
Just two seasons into their WNBA careers, Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark and Chicago Sky forward Angel Reese have already become two of the top players in the league. And even Houston Comets legend Sheryl Swoopes is impressed.
Clark had a stellar rookie year, breaking numerous WNBA records, on and off the court, on her way to an All-WNBA first-team nod. This year, Clark's numbers have taken a slight dip, averaging 16.5 points, 5.0 rebounds and 8.8 assists per game. However, Clark hasn't been able to find much of a rhythm in 2025, missing her 11th game of the year on Wednesday against the New York Liberty due to a groin injury.
Reese, on the other hand, has put together another All-Star caliber season. The former LSU Tigers forward is averaging a firm double-double of 14.0 points and 12.6 rebounds per game, leading the WNBA in rebounding by a wide margin. She also is tallying a career-high 3.8 assists per game.
On the latest edition of former NBA star Gilbert Arena's podcast, "Gil's Arena," Swoopes discussed Clark's play.
"The best part of her game to me is her passing," Swoopes said. "Like her ability to see (expletive) before everybody else sees it. She gets the ball where it needs to be. I have zero hate for her. I appreciate her game."
Swoopes didn't forget about Reese, leaving high praise for the Sky star as well.
"Angel has a personality that people, whether you like what she does on the basketball court or not, Angel is going to always be Angel for sure," Swoopes added. "So whatever she's doing off the court, she remains 100% true to who she is. And I think what what she has found is just by being herself, like brands are all over that."
