Kuminga could still be looking to leave Golden State. Will the Bulls make a move?
The Chicago Bulls have had a relatively quiet summer amid ongoing contract negotiations with restricted free agent Josh Giddey.
The team remains far apart from the No. 6 overall pick in the 2021 NBA Draft, who is reportedly seeking a deal worth around $30 million annually. The 22-year-old guard is seen as a key part of the Bulls’ rebuild, and they have time on their side, as most teams don’t have the cap space to pry Giddey away.
Meanwhile, the Bulls have also expressed interest in Warriors forward Jonathan Kuminga, who could be another potential sign-and-trade candidate. According to Jake Fischer of The Stein Line, Kuminga’s camp has been eyeing a move to Chicago, though the Bulls’ focus on Giddey has stalled any traction.
“The 22-year-old’s [Kuminga’s] camp had also been hopeful, sources say, about a potential sign-and-trade with Chicago, but the Bulls have their own free agency dance to navigate with Giddey,” Fischer wrote.

Kuminga is reportedly seeking a significant payday — one the Warriors appear reluctant to offer. The No. 7 overall pick in the 2021 NBA Draft is also expected to pursue an increased role, something Golden State may not be able to offer.
He saw inconsistent playing time in 2024-25, which carried into the club’s first-round playoff series win over the Rockets. However, Kuminga impressed during the second-round series loss to the Timberwolves, averaging 20.8 points, 3.0 rebounds and 1.6 three-pointers while shooting 54.3 percent from the field and 42.1 percent from deep in 27.4 minutes per game.
Entering his fifth season in the NBA, Kuminga has the tools to become a key contributor, especially on a rebuilding team like the Bulls.
