What to Know About Dover Motor Speedway

The Dover Motor Speedway is known as the Monster Mile, and that’s not just a nickname. At exactly one mile long, the 400-mile race is 400 laps, and it features a banking of 24 degrees on the turns and 9 degrees on the straights.

It’s one of three NASCAR tracks to feature an entirely concrete racing surface. Previous iterations of this race have been held in the spring, rather than summer. To adjust for higher temperatures and Dover’s unique track design, Goodyear developed a special tire to be exclusively used for this weekend’s race. The tire has never been used in previous races, adding to the challenge for drivers.
