Earlier this week, a meeting was held between Barcelona sporting director Deco and the representatives of RB Leipzig sensation Xavi Simons.
Considering the Dutchman’s past at La Masia, rumours of a return have never been far, and the meeting, which took place in a hotel in Barcelona, has fuelled speculations about a potential transfer.
After all, Simons is understood to be keen on leaving Leipzig this summer, although he has no shortage of suitors.
Simons would love Barcelona return, but move unfeasible
Providing an update on the situation, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano now claims that Simons would love to return to Barcelona one day.
The Dutch attacking midfielder spent nine years at La Masia between 2010 and 2019 before being snared away by PSG.
However, he continues to admire the Blaugrana and would love to play for the Catalans’ first team in the future.

But, as things stand, a move for Simons appears unlikely for Barcelona owing to the financial situation.
While Romano confirms that a meeting did take place this week, he suggests that it might not have had anything to do with Simons at all.
The Italian transfer expert further insists that, as things stand, things are quiet and there is nothing concrete as far as Barcelona and Xavi Simons are concerned.
The youngster, for his part, seems to be leaning towards a move to the Premier League, where top clubs like Arsenal and Chelsea have shown an interest.
So, despite the mutual admiration between the former La Masia wonderkid and Barcelona, a transfer this summer appears to be out of the club’s reach.
