In a statement to Süddeutsche Zeitung, Hasan Ismaik has said that he has not sold his shares in 1860 Munich and will continue a the Grünwalder Stadion.

Earlier this month, it was revealed by the club that Ismaik had sold his shares in the club to a Swiss holding company, marking a new era for the Munich side. However, that no longer seems to be the case as the story of 1860 takes another twist.

Ismaik’s statement to SZ read:

“I will continue working with the club and will soon meet with the president and his deputies to discuss the plan for next season, the stadium, and the gymnasium. All I want to say to the fans of 1860 is that Reisinger (former president Robert Reisinger) and Karl Christian Bay (former vice president) have lied to everyone.”

SZ reports that Ismaik will now travel to Munich next week to meet with the new club president, Gernot Mang.

When it comes to the original plans to sell the club, the Jordanian had agreed in principle to end his 14-year tenure as 1860’s majority shareholder. However, Bild reports that negotiations between Ismaik and the Swiss holding company had stalled.

Now, the future off the pitch looks as unstable and uncertain as it has been before.

On the pitch, things look positive for die Löwen as the returns of Kevin Volland and Florian Niederlechner to the club show there is hope that they can make a push to return to the 2.Bundesliga this season.
