Mariners linked to trades for top 2 sluggers available at MLB deadline

Seattle could make moves.

The Seattle Mariners are in the playoff race.

They enter the second half holding onto the American League's third and final wild card spot. Now it's time to use the MLB trade season before the deadline to get better.

ESPN's Buster Olney sees the Mariners in contention for two top sluggers.

First, Olney writes that Seattle is one of two teams in the lead for Arizona third baseman Eugenio Suarez. The Yankees are the other.

Suarez, who has 31 homers already this season, played for the Mariners in 2022 and 2023.

Olney also links the Mariners to Josh Naylor, the Diamondbacks first baseman.

Both of those guys would be upgrades at weak points in the Seattle lineup.

Maybe they can pull off a package deal for both using their deep farm system. That'd certainly create the potential for an exciting second half.
