Somourian Wingo's college football commitment: St. Augustine WR announces Miami choice

St. Augustine's Somourian Wingo is among the most coveted wide receivers in Florida high school football recruiting. Where is he heading?

Somourian Wingo is setting his sights on Coral Gables.

The St. Augustine wide receiver announced his commitment to Miami at a July 17 ceremony inside the school's media center, the latest major commitment for the 2026 class in Northeast Florida high school football.

Donning a black Miami cap and flashing the U sign, Wingo announced his commitment to the ACC school.

Wingo, a rising senior, had announced a final three of Florida, Miami and South Carolina. He had more than 30 college offers listed in all.

The 6-2, 180-pound Wingo is rated as a four-star prospect and a top-25 receiver by the national recruiting services. He entered the summer at No. 27 on the USA TODAY Florida Network Top 100 list for the Class of 2026.

Electrifying in the open field, Wingo brings a wide range of athletic skills to the Hurricanes.

He caught 62 passes for 1,040 yards and 12 touchdowns in 2024 for the Yellow Jackets, who qualified for the Florida High School Athletic Association Class 4A semifinal before losing to Plantation American Heritage.

As a sophomore in 2023, Wingo recorded 29 catches for 531 yards and six touchdowns in a four-receiver attack while helping the Yellow Jackets to the FHSAA Class 3S title game. Only a last-second field goal denied St. Augustine against Daytona Beach Mainland.

He also excelled in basketball, earning All-First Coast second-team recognition on the hardwood in 2024-25 with averages of 16.6 points, 5.8 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 3.1 steals.

Wingo becomes the third Northeast Florida commit for Miami in the 2026 class, along with Mandarin cornerback Brody Jennings and Bolles offensive lineman JJ Sparks.

St. Augustine opens its season Aug. 22 against Palatka, continuing a rivalry more than a century old.
