Sporting midfielder Morten Hjulmand has given the green light for a move to Juventus this summer, according to Corriere dello Sport.

With deals for midfield targets Granit Xhaka and Sandro Tonali looking distant, the Old Lady have shifted their focus towards Hjulmand.

However, the Danish international wouldn’t come at a cheap price as he reportedly holds a release clause worth €80 million.

Provided Sporting’s stringent stance on their star striker Viktor Gyokeres, it would not be easy to prise Hjulmand away from the Portuguese club.

But the Old Lady will look to negotiate the fee, given the midfielder’s desire to move to Turin.

Hjulmand has established himself as a vital cog in Sporting’s midfield, leading them to back-to-back Primeira League titles in the last two seasons.

The 26-year-old is one of the finest deep-lying playmakers in Europe, ranking in the 87th percentile for progressive passes and 93rd percentile for duels won.

With Sporting continuing their talks to sign Juve full-back Alberto Costa, the Old Lady are looking to take advantage of their strong ties with the Portuguese giants.

The Bianconeri need to accelerate their sales operation to generate funds for the signing of Hjulmand, who is also on Manchester United’s wishlist

Dusan Vlahovic, Timothy Weah, Douglas Luiz and Samuel Mbangula are some of the primary candidates to leave Juve in this transfer window.

Hjulmand’s immense talent and leadership qualities can breathe new life into Igor Tudor’s squad ahead of their quest to return to the top of Serie A this season.

The Bianconeri have also lined up Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Yves Bissouma and Wolverhampton Wanderers’ Andre as alternative options.
