A headline member of the first-team ranks at La Liga champions Barcelona is considering going under the knife to solve an ongoing fitness problem.
That’s according to Jijantes, who point towards Marc-André ter Stegen as the player in question.
Goalkeeper Ter Stegen has for his part spent the early days of Barcelona’s pre-season training schedule doing work away from the group.
Amid ongoing speculation surrounding his future, the German international has been put through individualised sessions in the gym.
As much, initially, was understood to have come owing to Ter Stegen having lost his place in Hansi Flick’s plans.
The last couple of days, however, have seen it revealed that the 33-year-old is actually suffering with a back injury.
To the extent that, as alluded to above, Ter Stegen could be forced to undergo surgery, a move with the potential for a major knock-on effect in Catalunya’s capital.
As per a report from Jijantes:
‘The German goalkeeper is considering the option of undergoing surgery to address his back issues. If he undergoes surgery, the player would be sidelined for several months, and Barça might not register him. With that salary margin, Barça could register Joan Garcia and make some other moves.’

El portero alemán esta valorando la opción de pasar por el quirófano para solventar sus problemas en la espalda.
En caso de pasar por el quirófano, el jugador estaría varios meses de baja y el Barça podría no inscribirle.
