Losing Kyle Schwarber would be a disaster for the Philadelphia Phillies. For a team that’s already shown below-average power over the past few months, the Phillies absolutely can't lose their top power hitter.

However, until the front office makes a commitment to keep Schwarber in town by offering him a new deal, there will be many questions about what will happen.

Unfortunately, the Phillies haven't done what they've needed to do with Schwarber, and it's a somewhat concerning sign.

When speaking about the situation, the big left-handed slugger, however, stated that it's possible that the Phillies and he will get together on a deal, admitting that he has interest on his side and he believes there's some interest from the Phillies’ side.

Philadelphia Phillies designated hitter Kyle Schwarber.

“I’ve made it known that Philly’s been home for me these last four years, and that’s where my kids have been growing up,” Schwarber said, per Yahoo. “We spend more time in Philadelphia than we do at our own home [in Ohio] in the offseason, and that’s what they know home is. It’s been such a great time there.

“Obviously there’s interest on my side, and I know that there’s going to be interest on their side. At the end of the year, we’re going to see where that takes us, and if that’s us striking up a deal, it’s striking up a deal.”

As long as the feelings are mutual on both sides, this is a promising sign for the Phillies and their fan base.

Many Phillies fans want the left-handed hitter to be in Philadelphia for the long term, and it sounds like Schwarber wants to be, too.
