Nation's No. 4 DL projected to commit to Georgia football

The Georgia Bulldogs are predicted to land a commitment from a four-star defensive lineman that is close to being ranked as a 5-star

The Georgia Bulldogs have been projected to land a commitment from elite four-star defensive lineman Valdin Sone, who is a member of the class of 2026. Georgia already has one of the nation's best recruiting classes in the 2026 cycle, but the Bulldogs would be getting a premier piece in the their recruiting class in Sone.

The four-star defensive lineman plays high school football for Blue Ridge School in St. Georgia, Virginia. The 6-foot-3, 316-pound defensive lineman has excellent size and is ranked as the No. 4 player at his position in the country, per 247Sports. Sone is the No. 45 recruit in the country and the third-best prospect in Virginia.

Georgia Bulldogs football recruiting projections

The Blue Ridge School star took official visits to Oklahoma, Georgia, Nebraska, Florida and Auburn during May and June. Rivals projected Georgia to land the elite defender shortly after it projected that Georgia would miss out on five-star linebacker recruit Tyler Atkinson, who ended up committing to Texas. Georgia also lost a commitment from five-star defensive lineman James Johnson, so Sone is even more critical for the Bulldogs.

Georgia currently has seven commitments along the defensive line in the class of 2026, so the Bulldogs would have a pretty crowded defensive line class if they add Sone. Coach Kirby Smart and Georgia are still looking to replace a significant amount of veteran defensive linemen that left via the 2025 NFL draft.
