The former coach dismissed Sanders' idea for college footbaLL.

Urban Meyer isn’t buying what Deion Sanders is selling when it comes to salary caps in college football.
During a recent episode of his podcast, "The Triple Option," the former Florida and Ohio State coach had a conversation with co-hosts Mark Ingram II and Rob Stone, where he responded to Sanders’ suggestion that college football needs a spending limit.
Sanders believes the financial playing field is tilted too heavily toward powerhouse programs that can afford to outspend everyone else in the name of Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) deals.
But Meyer shut that down pretty quickly.
“It will never happen,” he said. “It will never happen because Colorado is not the same as Ohio State and Alabama and big market cities that have alumni that are willing to do that.”
Meyer didn’t entirely disagree with Sanders’ sentiment that, in a perfect world, a more balanced system would be nice. But he pointed out a hard truth that mirrors another major sport: “It’s like Major League Baseball… You’ve got the left side of the Dodgers' infield making more than most major league teams. That’s going to happen.”
In other words, some programs just have more money, more influence and more donors than others, and that’s not going to change with a cap that’s nearly impossible to enforce.
Sanders, to his credit, is trying to build something big at Colorado, but as Meyer bluntly pointed out, the Buffs aren’t playing the same financial game as the Buckeyes, Crimson Tide or Trojans.
So while Coach Prime is looking for a level field, Meyer is reminding everyone that the game has never really been fair and probably never will be.
