Report: Wyndham Clark banned from Oakmont Country Club due to locker room incident

Wyndham Clark reportedly has been sanctioned by Oakmont Country Club for his behavior during last month's U.S. Open but did extend an olive branch

Wyndham Clark won’t be teeing it up at Oakmont Country Club any time soon.

The 2023 U.S. Open champion reportedly has been banned from the famed Pittsburgh golf club that hosted its record 10th U.S. Open last month. Clark damaged two lockers in the men’s locker room after he missed the 36-hole cut. Pictures of the damaged lockers went viral on social media.

Fantasy sports expert Pat Mayo was first to post the news of Clark's ban on social media, and Golfweek has confirmed the accuracy through its own sources.

According to sources, for the ban to be lifted, Clark would have to make a donation to the charity of the club’s choice, pay for the damages and take anger management classes.

Clark apologized publicly for what happened at the U.S. Open the next week at the Travelers Championship.

"I've had a lot of highs and lows in my career, especially this year some lows. I made a mistake that I deeply regret. I'm very sorry for what happened," Clark said at the time. "But I'd also like to move on, not only for myself but for Oakmont, for the USGA, and kind of focus on the rest of this year and things that come up. I still want to try to make the Ryder Cup team. I still am on the outside looking in for the FedEx Cup. So I'm starting to move on and focus on those things."

Wyndham Clark plays his shot from the tenth tee during the first round of the U.S. Open golf tournament.

The club and USGA came to the agreement banning him from the property. Oakmont will next host the U.S. Open in 2033, which would be the final year of Clark’s 10-year exemption for winning the title at Los Angeles Country Club’s North Course.
