Manchester United could take advantage of Lucas Beraldo’s precarious situation at Paris Saint-Germain.
A new centre-back is not necessarily a priority for United, who continue to put all their efforts into strengthening their attack this summer.
However, Ruben Amorim’s back three system has emphasised the importance of defensive options at United.
Further, United released Victor Lindelof and Jonny Evans at the end of the season upon the expiration of their respective contracts. As such, the Red Devils would do well to sign at least one new central defender.
Manchester United interested in Beraldo
A report in Spain suggests the Premier League giants are “on the trail” of a Brazilian defender.
According to Fichajes, United have set their sights on Beraldo.
It is claimed the 21-year-old centre-back “could be living out his final days” as a PSG player on the back of an underwhelming campaign.
The Ligue 1 giants signed the highly-rated defender from Sao Paulo in a deal worth around €20 million in 2024.
However, he has struggled to live up to the expectations. Most recently, he received backlash for his performance in the Club World Cup final against Chelsea, as Cole Palmer toyed with him to score his side’s first goal.
It is claimed Beraldo’s display against Chelsea “was the final straw”, with PSG already working on finding a new defender. As such, they are prepared to push the Brazil international out of the club.
Manchester United admire Beraldo
The Spanish outlet claim United are “alert to the opportunity” as Beraldo’s situation could lead to a cut-price deal.
It is added that United value his “youth and potential” and there is expectation that he could develop well in a different environment. Beraldo has earned plaudits for his composure in possession and impressive passing range.
Accordingly, the Mancunians could make a “firm offer in the coming weeks” for the PSG talent.
