Arsenal are close to agreeing a new contract with youngster Ethan Nwaneri.
The Athletic say talks are in the final stages with Nwaneri set to put pen to paper on a longer-term deal at the club.
Hayters reported earlier this month that Arsenal remained confident of securing Nwaneri to a new contract, despite plenty of interest from elsewhere.
The 18-year-old’s deal had been set to run out next summer but Nwaneri now looks set to commit his future to the Gunners, having come through the club’s Hale End academy.
Meanwhile, Sky Sports say Liverpool are set to rival Newcastle for the signing of Eintracht Frankfurt striker Hugo Ekitike.
The Reds had expressed an interest in Newcastle’s Alexander Isak, but have reportedly been told that he is not for sale this summer.
It means they will switch their attentions to Ekitike, who Newcastle have long been keen on.
Mail Sport say Aston Villa’s Ollie Watkins, Napoli’s Victor Osimhen, Brentford’s Yoane Wissa and Real Madrid’s Rodrygo are also on Liverpool’s list of possible targets.
It comes as winger Luis Diaz has reportedly expressed his desire to leave the club, according to the Athletic.
Diaz has been the subject of a bid from Bayern Munich, which Liverpool rejected.
Defender Ibrahima Konate has, however, turned down interest from elsewhere, having reportedly had an offer to go to the Saudi Pro League, the Mirror say.
The Frenchman’s contract runs out next summer and Real Madrid are also said to be keen on signing him on a free transfer.
Elsewhere, Brentford are trying to sign Ipswich forward Omari Hutchinson but have so far been unable to agree on a payment structure of the deal, according to Sky Sports.
They also add that the deadline to activate his £35m release clause has now passed.
The Athletic say Leeds United have reached a deal to sign midfielder Sean Longstaff from Newcastle United.
The Times report that Manchester United are weighing up a move for Chelsea striker Nicolas Jackson this summer.
Talksport say Chelsea have held talks over a move for Ajax defender Jorrel Hato. They also report that Manchester United are keen on Brighton left-back Pervis Estupinan.
And Hayters understands that Rangers are keen on signing Cardiff City youngster Jack Sykes.
