Brentford are seemingly resigned to losing Bryan Mbeumo one way or another this summer, as they have begun pursuing his successor.
Despite being locked in negotiations with Manchester United for well over a month, Mbeumo remains a Bees player and reported back to the club for pre-season training last week.
Yet, there remains a general expectation amongst the Red Devils hierarchy that a deal will be eventually completed – whenever that may be.

They may be more inclined to return with a third bid, having failed with two offers worth an initial £55 million and then £62m including add-ons, after learning of today’s news that Brentford have submitted their opening proposal for Omari Hutchinson, whom, according to Fabrizio Romano, is seen as a ‘possible replacement’ for Mbeumo.
MailSport journalist Tom Collomosse reports this morning that the Bees have moved to activate Hutchinson’s £35m release clause, which would see the Chelsea graduate part ways with Ipswich Town following their relegation back down to the Championship.
In turn, his arrival would perhaps pave the way for the West London outfit to sanction Mbeumo’s departure.

That’s only if United pull their finger out and actually allow a breakthrough to be made in talks. Yes, Brentford’s demands are high, but can you really blame them?
The Cameroonian international, 25, is on the back of a career-best campaign, in which he recorded 20 Premier League goals for the first time and contributed a further eight assists.
What’s more, he was available to start every single fixture in the 38-game term, making him one of the most dependable figures Thomas Frank had at his disposal at the Gtech Community Stadium.
