Calls Mount for Indiana Fever to Take Drastic Action After Caitlin Clark's Injury

The injury looked bad.

Calls Mount for Indiana Fever to Take Drastic Action After Caitlin Clark's Injury originally appeared on Athlon Sports.

The Indiana Fever’s 85-77 win over the Connecticut Sun on Tuesday night was overshadowed by an unfortunate turn of events involving Caitlin Clark.

With less than a minute remaining in the contest and the game virtually already won for Indiana, Clark was seen grabbing onto the inside of her right leg. She left the game immediately and was unable to return. The 23-year-old was also seen on the bench on the brink of tears as she covered her head with a towel.

The suspicion is that Clark may have re-aggravated the same groin injury that forced her to sit out five straight games in June and July. If this is the case, then it will very likely mean a lengthier spell on the sidelines after this most recent non-contact injury.

This incident has elicited a range of reactions from fans on social media. More than a few of them are now calling for the Fever to take drastic action amid Clark’s third injury before the midway point of the season.

“I wish she would rest for the remainder of the season,” a comment on X read.

“Just rest her for the season,” said another.

"Agree. Shut her down. The team will get into the playoffs," declared a user.

"May be done for the season," a reaction read.

"Rest until playoffs if Fever make it. If not try to see if she'll be healthy next season," another said.

"just shut the season down," demanded a supporter.

It is worth noting that the Fever were particularly cautious in handling Clark’s groin injury earlier this month. They did not bring her back until they felt she was fully healed, which cost her two weeks on the sidelines.

The outlook of the Fever has always been focused on the bigger picture and how these injuries could potentially impact Clark in the long run. The team will likely err on the side of caution even more if this is a reaggravation of the groin issue. Whether or not it involves having to shut her down for the rest of the season, however, is an altogether different matter.
