Florida's receiver room will play a big role in 2025

One of, if not the biggest, aspects of the Florida Gators' 2025 college football season will be the passing game. Head coach Billy Napier has been known for his incredible running back groups throughout his career, and the same is true with Florida's backfield group this year.
However, with star quarterback DJ Lagway entering his sophomore season after an impressive freshman campaign, the Gators' air attack will be a force in 2025.
The men Lagway will be throwing to are a big part of it. Florida's wide receiver corps, even after losing its two receiving yards leaders from a year ago, is looking scary for opposing secondaries.
The Gators will be missing Elijhah Badger and Chimere Dike this fall, who were Lagway's two favorite targets in 2024. Badger caught 39 passes for 806 yards and four touchdowns while Dike made 42 grabs for 783 yards and a pair of scores. Both are off to the NFL, leaving two big holes in the receiver room.
One guy the Gators will love to welcome back in 2025 is Eugene Wilson III. Wilson had a very impressive freshman season in 2023, catching a team-high six touchdowns on 61 receptions and 538 yards, earning Freshman All-SEC honors. Last year, the Tampa, Florida, native played just four games before suffering a season-ending hip injury. Now, he will be one of the Gators' leaders again in the wideout room.
Other than Wilson, Florida added some high-profile receiving talent this offseason. Napier and the Gators signed transfer J. Michael Sturdivant from UCLA. In his career with both Cal and UCLA, Sturdivant has totaled 1,667 yards and 13 touchdowns.
Florida also has a pair of exciting freshman wideouts in 2025. Dallas Wilson and Vernell Brown III, both of whom were five-star recruits coming out of high school, promise to put up big numbers in the orange and blue.
With this core of remarkable wide receivers for Lagway to target in 2025, it will be interesting to see how Florida's passing game adjusts this season.
