Tough break for Caitlin Clark and the Fever.
Caitlin Clark Holds Back Tears After Suffering Concerning Injury in Fever-Sun Game originally appeared on Athlon Sports.
The Indiana Fever made it three wins in a row with a hard-fought 85-77 road victory over the Connecticut Sun on Tuesday night.
Kelsey Mitchell led the way for Indiana with 20 points on 8-of-13 shooting, while Natasha Howard kept her foot on the gas with an 18-point, 13-rebound double-double.
Caitlin Clark struggled with her shot in this one again, going just 4-of-14 overall and 1-of-7 from beyond the arc for 14 points. Despite her inefficiency from the field, the recently crowned WNBA All-Star Game captain was able to flirt with a triple-double with eight rebounds and seven assists.
The big concern for Clark, however, is that she appeared to have aggravated her groin injury in the game's final moments. The 23-year-old was seen grabbing her right leg after a non-contact injury, which forced her to sit out the remainder of the contest.
Clark looked like she was in pain and appeared to be considerably frustrated. She placed a towel over her head and seemed to be holding back her tears as she sat on the bench.

This is not a good sign at all. Clark played in just her fourth game back after missing five straight due to a groin injury. It’s possible that she may have re-aggravated the same injury on Tuesday night.
The Fever were particularly cautious in bringing Clark back from her groin injury. She even sat out Indiana’s biggest game of the season, which was their Commissioner’s Cup championship win against the Minnesota Lynx.
This injury has now put Clark’s status for the upcoming WNBA All-Star weekend in jeopardy and, unfortunately for Fever fans, potentially beyond.
