The Oklahoma City Thunder are fresh off winning their first championship since relocating to Oklahoma City and they have become a powerhouse in the NBA once again.
Of course, this marked the second championship in franchise history, the first coming when they were still known as the Seattle SuperSonics.
Oklahoma City has success as a franchise and they have also seen their fair share of stars play for them over the years.
On Bleacher Report’s list of the top 100 players in NBA history, the Thunder had three players represent them.
Those players are Gary Payton (53), Russell Westbrook (48) and Kevin Durant (13).
For Payton, he is known as one of the greatest defensive guards in NBA history and h was a major force during his 13 seasons in Seattle.
Over that span, Payton was a nine-time All-Star, nine-time All-NBA selection, nine-time All-Defesnive selection and was the Defensive Player of the Year in 1995-96.
Despite his success, Payton was never able to bring a championship to Seattle, though he did win a championship with the Miami Heat in 2006 alongside Dwyane Wade and Shaquille O’Neal.
For Durant and Westbrook, they were one of the best duos in the NBA during their time together, though they were unfortunately never able to bring a championship to Oklahoma City.
Durant won an MVP award during his time with the Thunder and is one of the best players in their franchise’s history due to his scoring prowess, though all fans remember is his decision to leave Oklahoma City for the Golden State Warriors in the 2016 offseason.
Westbrook is arguably the greatest player in Thunder history as he became one of the league’s best point guards during his prime in Oklahoma City.
The star guard won an MVP award and also became just the second player in league history to average a triple-double throughout an entire season.
Now the Thunder have built another young core and they could end up having multiple players on this list in the future, especially if Shai Gilgeous-Alexander continues to dominate the way he has over the past few seasons.
