Over the past few days, nearly everything has suggested that the Boston Red Sox won't even consider selling out the trade deadline, which is an auspicious sign for the organization.
The Red Sox have played excellent baseball recently and are now in a position to make the postseason. However, that doesn't take away from the fact that the Red Sox will still have some tough decisions, whether moving on from a player or adding multiple players.
While Jarren Duran has been a key figure during this recent stretch, many believe the Red Sox could move on from him.
That would be less about Duran's play and more about the Red Sox's young talent in the outfield.
When recently examining that, despite the latest rumors, Newsweek's Zachary Rotman predicted that Duran would be traded at the deadline, adding that the young talent the Red Sox have in the outfield just can't go unnoticed any longer, and they need all the at-bats they can get.
"The Red Sox have a good enough outfield to justify trading him, and dealing him would allow them to address another need or two with a cheaper option to fit Bregman in," Rotman wrote. "Red Sox fans won't like it, but it makes sense."
It's only fair to suggest that the young players on the Red Sox get the bulk of at-bats moving forward. It isn't like Duran is old, but if he's ever taking away at-bats from Roman Anthony, Ceddanne Rafaela, Wilyer Abreu, and others eventually, it might be the best plan to move on from him.
