The Detroit Pistons are one of the most successful franchises in NBA history with three championships and they have had a number of legends who have suited up for their squad.
On Monday, Bleacher Report released their list of the top 100 players in NBA history and among them were seven players who put on a Pistons jersey during their incredible careers.
Among the players selected were Dave Bing (99), Joe Dumars (96), Chauncey Billups (91), Bob Lanier (82), Grant Hill (79), Dennis Rodman (67) and Isiah Thomas (27).
Of course, Detroit has had many more legends suit up for their franchise but these are the seven players that they selected on their list of the top 100 players in league history.
For Thomas, he is regarded as the greatest Pistons player of all time and Bleacher Report agreed, though they placed him at 27th on their list, which seems low for one of the best point guards in NBA history.
Thomas has been overshadowed by Magic Johnson and Stephen Curry among point guards and also Michael Jordan, who dominated the era in which Thomas played in the NBA.
Despite this, Thomas helped lead Detroit to two championships, both alongside Dumars and Rodman, who both played a key role in the Pistons back-to-back titles in 1989 and 1990, though Rodman is more well known for his time with the Chicago Bulls.
Outside of those three players, the only other Pistons player to make the list that won a championship in Detroit was Billups, who helped lead Detroit to a title in 2004.
For the remaining three players, while they never won a championship, they made an impact in Detroit.
Bing played a large role in the Pistons’ success early in their franchise during the 1960s and 1970s alongside Lanier.
For Hill, he was dominant from his rookie season in Detroit and had the makings of being one of the best players of all time before injuries derailed his career.
This is a massive honor by all of the players named to Bleacher Report’s list and Detroit has some players on their current roster that would love to eventually join them.
