The college football world was stunned on Tuesday thanks to a monster flip on the recruiting trail.

As Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian was on hand for SEC media days in Atlanta to talk to the media, his recruiting staff back in Austin worked tirelessly to pull off one of the biggest flips of the 2026 cycle. Just a couple of weeks after he had committed to the Georgia Bulldogs, five-star defensive lineman James Johnson had a change of heart on Tuesday.

As announced via social media, the No. 1 defensive lineman in the country flipped his commitment from Georgia to Texas, giving the Longhorns their fourth five-star of the class.

Aside from sending shockwaves throughout the country, the move also earned the praise of Texas quarterback commit, Dia Bell.

Similar to Johnson, Bell also ranks as the top player at his position, as the Elite 11 MVP was recently ranked as the No. 1 quarterback in the country by Rivals.

Another similarity between both Bell and Johnson is the fact that the Longhorns were able to go into the state of Florida and pluck out two of the state's top players.

Aside from flipping Johnson from Georgia, the Longhorns were also able to beat out the Bulldogs for five-star linebacker Tyler Atkinson who ranks as the No. 9 player in the country and the No. 1 player in the Peach State.

While the Longhorns have been selective in who they are choosing to pursue this cycle as they wait for recruits to realize other programs can't offer what they say they can, they have still made their presence felt.
