Royal Portrush in Northern Ireland is hosting The Open Championship for the third time and native son Rory McIlroy is a favorite.

The Open Championship returns to Royal Portrush in Northern Ireland, the home country of one of the favorites, Rory McIlroy. The top favorite is world No. 1 Scottie Scheffler, though the reigning PGA Champion has never won a British Open before.

Xander Schauffele is the defending Open champion and Shane Lowry of Ireland won on home turf the last time the British Open was contested at Royal Portrush in 2019. This is the third time the event has been in Northern Ireland, each time at Royal Portrush.
