The New York Mets have a star-studded roster, but that hasn't stopped first baseman Pete Alonso from leading them in multiple categories this season. The slugger tops the squad with a .280 batting average, 77 RBI, 101 hits, 26 doubles, and a .908 OPS.
Alonso is also tied for 12th in baseball with 21 homers and fifth in RBI. Meanwhile, the 6-foot-3-inch, 245-pounder is 11th in OPS.
Alonso, along with shortstop Francisco Lindor, closer Edwin Diaz, and starting pitcher David Peterson, will represent the Mets in Tuesday night's All-Star Game. Alonso commented on what it means to wear his team uniform for the game, via SNY.
"This organization's been nothing but fantastic to me," he said. "To be able to represent not just the organization but the city of New York here, I'm really happy to do so. It's an honor."
This is Alonso's fifth career All-Star Game.

Alonso signed a two-year, $54 million extension with New York in February, including a player option for 2026. The 30-year-old slashed .240/.329/.459 with 34 homers and 88 RBI over 162 regular-season games before slashing .273/.431/.568 with four homers and 10 RBI over 13 playoff contests last year.
The Mets are a half-game behind the Philadelphia Phillies for first place in the NL East. They're also 1.5 games behind the Milwaukee Brewers for the NL's top Wild Card spot.
New York's next series will start on Friday against the Cincinnati Reds at Citi Field.
