Arch on a mission.
Arch Manning Sets Priorities Straight Amid Growing Hype originally appeared on Athlon Sports.
Behind center for the Texas Longhorns in 2025 will be Arch Manning, the third‑year sophomore whose storied pedigree and limited game film have fueled national intrigue.
A member of the famed Manning dynasty (nephew to Peyton and Eli, grandson of Archie) he arrived in Austin as the top-ranked recruit of his class.
In 12 career appearances (two starts), he’s completed 66.3% of his passes for 969 yards, nine touchdowns and two interceptions. He’s also added 115 rushing yards and four scores on the ground.
Manning’s performance last season earned him several weekly honors, including SEC Co‑Freshman of the Week, the Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award National Player of the Week and a spot on the Davey O’Brien Award “Great 8” list after a five-touchdown showing vs. UTSA.
As fans gear up for his first year as the Longhorns' starting quarterback, Manning was candid when asked about the swirl of preseason hype.
"I’m not really sure how they get these opinions because I’ve only played what, two games? That’s nice of them to say, but you know that doesn’t mean anything. Talk is cheap, I gotta go prove it," he told reporters on Tuesday.
Head coach Steve Sarkisian, entering his fifth year, has quietly compiled a 38–17 record and back‑to‑back national semifinal berths.
Still, a title remains elusive, and bringing home a championship is the litmus test by which he’ll be judged.
With last season’s 13‑3 finish still fresh, Texas enters 2025 as one of the nation’s elite contenders.
Oddsmakers have set their win total at 9.5, and many sportsbooks list the Longhorns among the favorites to return to the playoff field.
