Former Bucks champion receives Italian citizenship

Donte DiVincenzo is now a dual citizen.

Current Minnesota Timberwolves guard Donte DiVincenzo, after previously expressing interest in playing for the Italian national team in the 2025 EuroBasket, now will have a chance to live out his dream.

Monday afternoon, the Wolves guard was granted official Italian citizenship, making him eligible to play for the Italian team in national competitions.

In an interview with Basket News back in April, he explained his desire to represent Italy in EuroBasket and was waiting for everything to be processed.

"Chances of being in EuroBasket? I think they're really good, we're all on the same page. For me, it would be great to represent Italy. Now we just have to wait for the documents to arrive."

Italy will be in Group C in EuroBasket 2025, which will start August 27, facing off against Cyprus, Georgia, Bosnia, Herzegovina, Greece, and Spain.

DiVincenzo won the 2021 NBA Championship while he was with the Milwaukee Bucks, starting in all 66 games he played during the regular season that year, averaging 10.4 points per game.

In the 2024-25 season with the Minnesota Timberwolves, DiVincenzo averaged 11.1 points per game, along with 3.6 rebounds and 3.6 assists in the 62 games he played in, starting 10 of them.

EuroBasket 2025 will take place in Cyprus, Finland, Poland, and Latvia, beginning on August 27 and going through September 14.
