Surrey into women's T20 final after Durham washout

Two points from their abandoned match against Durham mean that Surrey qualify automatically for the women's T20 Blast final on 27 July.

Surrey will play in the inaugural final of the women's T20 Blast after their group match at Durham was washed out.

Not a single ball was bowled at the Riverside with each team picking up two points.

It means that leaders Surrey now cannot be caught at the top of the table with one match to spare.

They will go straight into the final at the Kia Oval on 27 July, with The Blaze and Bears now set to play each other in the semi-final earlier that day.

Durham, who had already been eliminated, remain in fifth place.

Surrey are currently 12 points clear of The Blaze in second place and have dominated the group stage.

And sealing their passage straight through to the final is reward for that, according to captain Bryony Smith.

"We'll take it," she said. "It's obviously not the way we would have wanted to do it, but I think we've almost earned the right to have it this way.

"It was all in our hands, and we're buzzing to only be playing one game at Finals Day. We're very excited."
