...it looked like Sevada might need a wheelbarrow just to haul his expanding trophy haul back to Arizona. The red-hot marksman burst out of the blocks during Weekend #3...
Adam Sevada made Championship Darts Circuit history in Chicago over the weekend, becoming the first player ever to win four consecutive Main Event titles on the PDC affiliated North American tour.
Early on in Illinois, it looked like Sevada might need a wheelbarrow just to haul his expanding trophy haul back to Arizona. The red-hot marksman burst out of the blocks during Weekend #3, adding two more titles to his growing collection in what was a landmark, record-breaking run. That also took his unbeaten streak to a jaw-dropping 28 matches - until Gary Mawson finally stepped in to slam the brakes on Sevada’s runaway train. The dream of a clean sweep and a fifth straight crown was over - though let’s be honest, that would’ve been downright greedy.
Saturday’s action began with an Aussie-sounding tournament featuring a World Grand Prix twist: the Boomerang Tours Bash. Yes, that’s right - 501, double in/double out. Sevada rocketed into the final and looked to be cruising with a commanding 5–1 lead over Canada’s Jim Long. But just as the engravers were likely leaning toward the trophy, Long launched a blistering five-leg surge that flipped the match on its head and left Sevada staring down the barrel of defeat.

But champions have a habit of rewriting the script. Sevada steadied himself, dug deep, and rattled off two clutch legs to scrape over the line 7–6. That wasn’t even his first brush with danger on the day - he’d survived a deciding leg against David Cameron in the quarter-finals and had to navigate a stern test from a resurgent Gary Mawson in the semis.
Fast forward a few hours, and Sevada was back on stage for the CDC Classic, still focused - though perhaps with a little more mileage in his legs. After brushing aside his early-round opponents, he found himself in another final, this time facing Doug Boehm. It was tight, but Sevada held his nerve once more, sealing a 7–5 win and etching his name into CDC history as the first player ever to claim four consecutive titles. His stats didn’t disappoint either - topping the 180s tally in the Classic and finishing just shy of the top averages with 83.41 and 86.11 across the two events.
Still, it wasn’t all the Sevada Show. Jim Long impressed with an eleven-maximum haul in the Bash, while Darryl Christie and Ram Guevara Jr. each recorded career-best semifinal runs. Jason Brandon, quietly efficient as ever, posted the weekend’s best average in the Classic with a smooth 86.42.
So, heading into Sunday’s DartConnect Challenge, the question was simple: Could anyone stop Sevada, who by this point must’ve felt like The Undertaker rolling into WrestleMania. As it turns out – yes. Stepping into the Brock Lesnar role, it was Gary Mawson who finally snapped the streak and brought Sevada’s dominance to a screeching halt.
But Mawson’s triumph was short-lived. In the final, he ran into a red-hot Stowe Buntz, who was in no mood for underdog storylines. The top seed – known to fans as The Neon Nightmare – produced a ruthless, clinical display to grab his seventh career CDC title and firmly shove Sevada out of the Chicago spotlight… at least for now.
With the race for Ally Pally heating up, the Tour rolls on to Indianapolis, August 1–3.
