Here are the six players from the Detroit Tigers in the 2025 All-Star Game at Truist Park in Atlanta, plus a non-player as the seventh representative.
ATLANTA — The Detroit Tigers lead all MLB teams with six players in the 2025 All-Star Game, scheduled for 8 p.m. Tuesday, July 15, at Truist Park, home of the Atlanta Braves.
The six players from the Tigers on the American League team: outfielder Javier Báez, outfielder Riley Greene, right-hander Casey Mize, third baseman Zach McKinstry left-hander Tarik Skubal and second baseman Gleyber Torres. Four of them are starting the 95th Midsummer Classic: Báez, Greene, Skubal and Torres.
Those players have guided the Tigers to an MLB-best 59-38 record through 97 of 162 games.

Skubal leads the pitching staff with a 2.23 ERA, putting himself in the hunt to repeat as the AL Cy Young winner. Greene anchors the offense with 24 home runs and 78 RBIs, both third-best in the AL behind only Cal Raleigh and Aaron Judge. Torres boasts a .387 on-base percentage, ranking fifth in MLB after Judge, Jonathan Aranda, Juan Soto and J.P. Crawford. Báez is a frontrunner for AL Comeback Player of the Year, posting an OPS above .750 for the first time since 2021. McKinstry ranks eighth among AL players with a 3.1 fWAR, leading all Tigers position players — even ahead of Greene. Mize is another Comeback Player of the Year candidate, with the 2018 No. 1 overall pick establishing himself as the Tigers' No. 2 starter behind Skubal with a 3.15 ERA.
Meet the six players from the Tigers in the 2025 All-Star Game (plus a non-player as the seventh representative):
LHP Tarik Skubal
Age: 28.
All-Star bids: 2.
Selection: Player vote.
2025 stats: 19 starts, 121 innings, 10-3 record, 2.23 ERA, 16 walks, 153 strikeouts, 4.7 fWAR.
The buzz: Skubal is the best pitcher in baseball, ranking No. 1 in MLB with a 2.43 ERA since July 4, 2023. He will make his first All-Star Game start in 2025, selected by AL manager Aaron Boone. He didn't start the 2024 All-Star Game because then-AL manager Bruce Bochy chose Corbin Burnes for the first inning, with Skubal pitching the second inning. If Skubal maintains his dominance, he will have a chance to become the first back-to-back AL Cy Young winner since Pedro Martínez in 1999-2000. He is the first Tigers pitcher to start the All-Star Game since Max Scherzer in 2013. Before that? Justin Verlander in 2012, Kenny Rogers in 2006, Jack Morris in 1985 and 1981, Denny McLain in 1966, Jim Bunning in 1962 and 1957 and Hal Newhouser in 1947.
OF Riley Greene
Age: 24.
All-Star bids: 2.
Selection: Fan vote.
2025 stats: 95 games, .284 batting average, 24 home runs, 78 RBIs, .879 OPS, 3.0 fWAR.
The buzz: Greene has elevated his performance in each of his four MLB seasons, posting a .682 OPS in 2022, a .796 OPS in 2023, an .827 OPS in 2024 and an .879 OPS in 2025. He hit 24 home runs in 584 plate appearances in 2024, averaging one homer every 24.3 plate appearances. In 2025, he already has 24 homers in 397 plate appearances, averaging one homer every 16.5 plate appearances. He made the All-Star team last year as a reserve via the player vote, but this year, the fans voted him in as a starter. In 2025, Greene is tracking for 40 home runs, a milestone reached just 11 times (by six players) in Tigers history.
2B Gleyber Torres
Age: 28.
All-Star bids: 3.
Selection: Fan vote.
2025 stats: 84 games, .281 batting average, 9 home runs, 45 RBIs, .812 OPS, 2.3 fWAR.
The buzz: Torres made the All-Star Game with the New York Yankees in 2018 and 2019, the first two seasons of his eight-year MLB career. He then went five seasons without an All-Star appearance, but the drought ended in 2025 with the Tigers. This year, he has been an on-base machine, drawing more walks (51) than strikeouts (46), and he owns a career-best .989 fielding percentage. Torres is the first Tigers second baseman to start the All-Star Game since Lou Whitaker in 1986. Before Whitaker, the Tigers hadn't had an All-Star starting second baseman since Charlie Gehringer in 1937.
OF Javier Báez
Age: 32.
All-Star bids: 3.
Selection: Fan vote.
2025 stats: 79 games, .275 batting average, 10 home runs, 39 RBIs, .752 OPS, 1.5 fWAR.
The buzz: Báez has joined Pete Rose, Harmon Killebrew and Albert Pujols as the only players in MLB history to start the All-Star Game at three different positions, starting at second base in 2018, shortstop in 2019 and center field in 2025. His return to All-Star status after six years highlights his career resurgence after spending 2023 and 2024 as the worst hitter in baseball, registering a .566 OPS that ranked last among 81 players with at least 800 plate appearances. He underwent season-ending right hip surgery in September 2024, and after nearly 80 games in 2025, he looks like a new player — both offensively and defensively. Báez and Greene are the first Tigers outfielders to start the All-Star Game since Magglio Ordóñez in 2007.

3B Zach McKinstry
Age: 30.
All-Star bids: 1.
Selection: Replacement pick, via MLB.
2025 stats: 88 games, .285 batting average, 8 home runs, 31 RBIs, .836 OPS, 3.1 fWAR.
The buzz: McKinstry ranks eighth among AL position players in overall performance with a 3.1 fWAR, trailing only Judge, Raleigh, Bobby Witt Jr., Jeremy Peña, Byron Buxton, José Ramírez and Ceddanne Rafaela. He is having a career-best season on offense while doing it all on defense — playing 348 innings at third base, 189 in right field, 80 in left field, 75 at shortstop, 12⅓ at second base and even two innings at first base. McKinstry has played every position except catcher in his six-year MLB career, including three innings as a pitcher. He was added to the All-Star team as a replacement for Peña, the Houston Astros' shortstop who is dealing with a rib injury.
RHP Casey Mize
Age: 28.
All-Star bids: 1.
Selection: Replacement pick, via MLB.
2025 stats: 16 starts, 88⅔ innings, 9-3 record, 3.15 ERA, 22 walks, 77 strikeouts, 1.3 fWAR.
The buzz: Mize was expected to be an All-Star someday after the Tigers selected him No. 1 overall in the 2018 draft. He finally did it in his fifth MLB season, following elbow and back surgeries that sidelined him for all of the 2023 campaign. He posted a 4.49 ERA in 2024, but he spent the offseason crafting a new attack plan: fastballs down in the zone, more velocity on his splitter and a new slider variation — propelling him to a 3.15 ERA in 2025. The biggest improvement? He is missing more bats and generating more strikeouts. Mize joined the All-Star team as a replacement for Boston Red Sox left-hander Garrett Crochet, who withdrew from the game due to workload concerns.
Bat boy Frankie Boyd
Age: 24.
All-Star bids: 1.
Selection: All-Star Ball Crew vote.
2025 stats: Fastest 40-yard dash time among MLB bat boys, according to Riley Greene.
The buzz: Boyd — a student at Eastern Michigan studying sport management — won an MLB fan vote to become the bat boy for the AL All-Star team, with Adam Crognale (Philadelphia Phillies) serving in the same role for the National League. Not only does Boyd work on the field as the Tigers' ball boy during games, but he also works behind the scenes as a clubhouse assistant before and after games. To earn their All-Star spots, Boyd and Crognale beat out fellow finalists Jacque Harrington (Boston Red Sox) and Nate Rosenhaus (Cleveland Guardians) on the All-Star Ball Crew ballot.
