Louisiana Tech's pending move to the Sun Belt Conference is official, according to sources. Per a report on ESPN, the Sun Belt voted to add Louisiana Tech as its 14th member, meaning the school is leaving Conference USA.

In late June, the school was initially rumored to be heading to the Sun Belt to replace Texas State, which is moving to the Pac-12. However, Louisiana Tech's start date in the Sun Belt is not confirmed; the earliest it could be is 2026, which is the year UTEP is leaving for the Mountain West.

This marks a return to the Sun Belt for Louisiana Tech, which was part of the league from 1991-2001 before departing for the WAC. The Bulldogs then joined Conference USA in 2013.

Conference USA now seems likely to have 10 schools for the 2026 season, assuming that's when Louisiana Tech moves to the Sun Belt.
