While the NBA offseason is in full swing, it has created a prime opportunity, like every offseason, for the media to rank the greatest players in league history.

Of course, the debate between who is the greatest player in NBA history has been going on since the beginning of the NBA but Bleacher Report’s NBA staff recently voted on the top 100 players in league history.

Among those on the list is current Houston Rockets and former Golden State Warriors and Oklahoma City Thunder superstar forward Kevin Durant as Bleacher Report ranked him as the 13th best player in NBA history.

“Durant’s itinerant career and failure to lead a team to a championship as a true alpha hurts his legacy—as does sharing an era with James, Curry and Jokić. It’s possible that KD could have taken the Thunder to the promised land if he’d stayed put, and he probably left another championship or two on the table by departing Golden State when he did,” Bleacher Report’s NBA staff wrote.

Bleacher Report’s staff makes a compelling point about Durant’s failures leading him to not be higher on the all-time list, especially due to him moving from the Thunder to the Warriors in 2016.

Despite this, the 17-year veteran has put together an incredible resume that includes two championships, two Finals MVPs, one regular season MVP and a Rookie of the Year award.

Durant is also an 11-time All-NBA selection, 15-time All-Star and four-time scoring champion which has labeled him as one of the greatest scorers in NBA history.

While Durant has put together in impressive resume, his failure to help lead the Thunder to a championship and also his decision to leave the Warriors during their dynasty likely cost him a higher ranking as every team he has been on since has struggled to chase a title.

That could change next season, though, as Durant now joins a young Rockets team fresh off finishing second in the Western Conference last season as he tries to add another championship to his resume and climb the all-time rankings.
