Manchester United’s search for a new striker has been dealt a fresh blow.
After missing out on Liam Delap to Chelsea early in the summer, United showed interest in signing Sporting CP talisman Viktor Gyokeres.
Despite enjoying a transformative stint under Ruben Amorim, Gyokeres has given priority to Arsenal, who have reached an agreement in principle for his services.
Victor Osimhen is also admired at Old Trafford but the Napoli man is seemingly returning to Galatasaray, who are prepared to meet his astronomical wage demands.
In June, The Peoples Person relayed a report claiming United have entered the race to sign Hugo Ekitike from Eintracht Frankfurt. However, since then, the Red Devils have made little progress in their pursuit.
Now, Fabrizio Romano reports that Newcastle United have submitted an official bid for the French striker.
It is claimed the Magpies’ proposal is higher than €70 million – a figure previously offered by another club this summer.
Eddie Howe’s side are understood to be “pushing to get the deal done” for the sought-after 23-year-old forward.More to follow…
