Aaron Boone has 1 word to describe Yankees first half of season

The New York Yankees once looked set to run away with the American League East. However, they went into the All-Star Break in second place to the Toronto Blue Jays.

The Yankees are 18-21 since the start of June. However, the team has looked flat-out dominant at times. They are reportedly getting Luis Gil back in August and could reclaim the division lead. Aaron Boone was asked to describe the Yankees' first half before their Sunday matchup against the Chicago Cubs.

"Incomplete," Boone said to reporters.

He went on to explain that there have been plenty of "good" but that there were also two weeks where the team struggled greatly. However, the team's goal in spring training was to make it back to the postseason and chase a World Series.

"All of those hopes and dreams are still there," Boone continued. "They still exist for us. If nothing else, we put ourselves in a position where that is something that is attainable for us. It's a long way to go still. We have to keep getting better, but we're in a position to do what we need to do."

Boone is not putting too much stock into the successes of his team so far. He understands that his team needs to play its best baseball in October, and he went on to talk about how the All-Star Break could help them do that. He talked about how the four days could be a positive reset for some of his players as they look to get back to dominating like they did in May.
