Barcelona are showing serious interest in signing Ryan Roberto, a 17-year-old winger currently playing for Flamengo.
Interestingly, according to a report from Mundo Deportivo, Barça have already made contact to learn more about his situation.
Ajax are also interested, but it is Barcelona who seem especially keen because Roberto fits the exact profile the club is looking for.
Who is Ryan Roberto?
The young Brazilian is known for his speed, skills, and goal-scoring ability. He usually plays on the right wing but likes to cut in from the left, something that appeals to Barcelona’s sporting department.
His numbers speak for themselves, as he scored 20 goals and provided 14 assists in just 33 games for Flamengo’s U-17 team in 2025. That kind of output has made him one of the most exciting young players in Brazil.
Despite his age, Roberto has already trained with Flamengo’s U-20 squad. The club’s first-team coach, Filipe Luis, is also paying close attention to his development.
Although Luis hasn’t given him a first-team debut yet, many believe it is only a matter of time before he gets his chance.
Complex contract situation
As is often the case with young Brazilian stars, Roberto’s contract situation is complicated. He joined Flamengo in 2023 from Athletico Paranaense. Right now, both Flamengo and Athletico Paranaense own 50% of his rights.
Flamengo has an option to buy an extra 20% of his rights for €1.5 million, but they have not exercised that option yet.
On the other hand, Athletico tried to buy back Flamengo’s share to regain control, but Flamengo refused the offer.
This makes any potential transfer to Barcelona more difficult, but not impossible. For now, the Catalan club are keeping a close eye on Roberto’s progress.
