The Los Angeles Dodgers selected Florida State baseball pitcher Cam Leiter in the second round of the 2025 MLB Draft.
The Los Angeles Dodgers have picked Florida State baseball pitcher Cam Leiter with the 65th overall pick in the second round of the 2025 MLB Draft.
Leiter hasn't pitched since March 2024 after he suffered an injury following a start against Louisville. He transferred to Florida State from UCF in 2023, joining both Drew Faurot and Jacob Marlowe in trading Orlando for Tallahassee that offseason.
The slot value for the 65th overall pick is $1,349,100.
He is the second Seminole baseball pitcher selected, joining Jamie Arnold, who was picked 11th overall by the Athletics. With his selection in the second round, it is the first time in program history that the Seminoles have three players selected in the first two rounds.
Cam Leiter stats, scout report: What does he bring to the Dodgers?
Leiter hasn't pitched in over a year after an undisclosed injury sidelined the Seminoles' star in March of 2024.
In his sophomore campaign, he struck out 56 in 35 innings, with 22 walks and a 4.63 ERA, and he led the nation in strikeouts before his injury. A strong arm, Leiter is the cousin of Mark Leiter Jr. and Jack Leiter and nephew of MLB pitchers Al Leiter and Mark Leiter. He was a unanimous All-AAC selection after his freshman season at UCF, where he recorded 80 strikeouts in 56.2 innings and held a 4.93 ERA.
