LeBron James recently opted into his player option for the 2025-26 NBA season, guaranteeing a salary of $52.6 million. Yet, considering he’s now entering the final year of his contract, there’s some uncertainty over how much longer he’ll be a member of the Los Angeles Lakers.

Recently, there’s been an indication that several teams have an interest in trading for the future first-ballot Hall of Famer. Now, thanks to Scoop B. Robinson, we know which four teams expressed an interest in trading for LeBron.

The four teams that have contacted LeBron’s agent are as follows:

  • Cleveland Cavaliers
  • Dallas Mavericks
  • Golden State Warriors
  • Los Angeles Clippers

Three of the four reside in the Western Conference, and the fourth is the Cavs, LeBron’s original and hometown team.

The other factor that all teams have in common is that they’re presumably all contenders. While the Mavericks lucked into the first overall pick, they are now adding potential superstar Cooper Flagg to a talented core that includes Anthony Davis and Kyrie Irving, who will eventually be returning from injury.

Otherwise, the other two teams are in California, which justifies their interest as well, considering LeBron has raised his family in Los Angeles and likely won’t want to leave anytime soon.

Either way, teams are interested in pursuing a LeBron trade, but as always, it takes two to tango, and the Lakers may not be willing to consider any offers for one of the greatest players in basketball history.
