Former LSU pitcher Kade Anderson was selected third overall by the Seattle Mariners in the 2025 MLB Draft, becoming the latest LSU Baseball star to go in the first round.
Off the heels of a solid freshman year, Anderson took over as LSU's ace in 2025 and never looked back. He was the Friday starter pretty much every weekend and was as dominant as Jay Johnson could've hoped he'd be.
Anderson made 19 starts in 2025, posting a 12-1 record behind a 3.18 ERA. The lefty posted two complete games, both of which were shutouts, and one of which came in the CWS Finals against Coastal Carolina, which propelled LSU to their eighth National Championship.
Over the course of the season, Anderson didn't allow a single run in four of his 19 outings. He also gave up just one run four teams, meaning in nearly half of his starts, he gave up one or less run to his opponent.
After his monster sophomore season, Anderson took home a long list of accolades. He was named a First-Team All-American, Baseball America's National Pitcher of the Year, the 2025 College World Series Most Outstanding Player and the Corbett Award Winner.
It was an incredible season for Anderson, which helped boost his draft stock enough for him to be selected third overall. He joins Dylan Crews and Paul Skenes as former Tigers selected in the first round of the MLB Draft in the past three seasons.
