The Golden State Warriors' season didn't go as many had hoped. At one point in the season, they were as low as the No. 12 seed in the Western Conference. Desperate not to make it a lost season, general manager Mike Dunleavy Jr. executed a blockbuster trade that landed them Jimmy Butler.

After that, the Warriors went on a tear, going 23-7 to salvage their season. However, losses in the regular season's final week prevented them from clinching a spot in the NBA Playoffs outright and forced them into the NBA Play-In Tournament. While the Warriors defeated the Memphis Grizzlies, it's never a good thing when a team of veterans has to play additional games.

Warriors made contact with LeBron James' Camp over potential trade

Golden State was able to defeat the Houston Rockets in the first round of the playoffs, but the series going seven games meant a quick turnaround into their semifinal series against the Minnesota Timberwolves. That's where things caught up to the aging roster, as Stephen Curry left Game 1 with a hamstring injury and didn't return for the remainder of the series and ultimately were eliminated.

Many expected the Warriors to be one of the more active teams when free agency opened, but the opposite has been the case, as they've been arguably the quietest team, as the trade market for Jonathan Kuminga perhaps isn't what they had hoped.

However, one major development came recently, when it was announced that the Warriors could be in the running for LeBron James.

"REPORT: The Mavericks, Warriors, Cavaliers, and Clippers all contacted Rich Paul about trading for LeBron James, per Brandon 'Scoop B' Robinson."

A trade for James would be tricky for the Warriors after James opted into his player option worth $52.6 million. The deal would likely have to include Kuminga, as well as much of their depth like Buddy Hield and possibly additional guards.

However, if the Warriors truly want to win another title to help further cement their dynasty, adding James would be an ideal way to do it. They would also become arguably the most intriguing team in the NBA. It's important to remember that James has a no-trade clause and can deny any trade that's made without his approval.
