As Arsenal close in on a deal to sign Chelsea winger Noni Madueke for £55 million, we look back to when Massimiliano Allegri was urged to sign the talented Englishman for Juventus.

Back in February 2024, Allegri’s mentor, Giovanni Galeone suggested that the then-Juventus head coach should make a move for the Chelsea player who he had been “talking to Max about for a long time” but confessed he “[didn’t] know if it was feasible for Juventus.”

As Madueke heads to Arsenal, what could have been for Juventus

Instead of trying to sign Madueke, Juventus instead opted to move for Porto’s Francisco Conceicao and Fiorentina’s Nico Gonzalez.

Both players were signed on loan, with Conceicao’s deal including an option-to-buy and the Viola winger’s loan including an obligation.

However, Gonzalez has been linked away from the Old Lady already this summer – and it looks possible that Conceicao could head back to Portugal.

The combined fees for the two players amount to €46.5 million so far – with that figure potentially rising in the Bianconeri decide to keep the Portuguese winger. This figure would therefore likely be in a similar ballpark to the sum that Arsenal have offered Chelsea for Madueke.
