Cardinals legend Mark McGwire's son is in the 2025 MLB Draft

Max McGwire is up next.

Mark McGwire is one of the greatest home run hitters in baseball history.

From the Oakland Athletics to the St. Louis Cardinals, Big Mac was a fearsome right-handed bat, and he was part of the greatest home run chase in MLB history when he blasted 70 out of the yard in 1998.

His son could soon be a professional baseball player, too.

Max McGwire is a draft-eligible first baseman from St. Louis University.

The 6-foot-3 Max bounced around in his college career. He started at Oklahoma, then spent two seasons at San Diego before winding up with the Billikens in St. Louis.

This season, he slugged seven home runs for St. Louis while batting .235.

There's clearly some power in the bat, but there's also some flaws in the swing, it seems.

Mark was a first-round pick, 10th overall, by the A's out of USC.

If Max gets drafted, it'll be much later, and it'll at least in part be a bet on pedigree. It's certainly a good pedigree to bet on, though.
