Manchester United winger Alejandro Garnacho wants to secure a Premier League transfer this summer.
Garnacho has been informed that he does not feature in Manchester United’s plans for the new season and is assessing his options in the transfer market.
Napoli have been linked with a move to sign the Argentine, but Garnacho’s preference remains to stay in English football.
Fabrizio Romano has reported that Garnacho will leave Manchester United, though is determined to secure a Premier League transfer.
Chelsea made an approach ot sign the 21-year-old in the January transfer window but have since added Jamie Gittens to their wide options this summer.
Aston Villa and Nottingham Forest have also bee named as potential options. Villa are likely to enter the market for attacking additions, having not taken up the permanent options to sign loanees Marcus Rashford and Marcos Asensio.
However, the Villans are dealing with Premier League Profit and Sustainability issues this summer. United are understood to value Garnacho at around £50m.
Why are Manchester United are willing to sell Garnacho?
Garnacho looked set for a bright future with the club after starring during their 2021/22 FA Youth Cup success. He has since made 144 senior appearances and has scored 10+ goals in each of the last two seasons.
However, the Argentine irked Ruben Amorim for his comments in the wake of the club’s Europa League final defeat to Tottenham in May. After Garnacho was introduced as a 71st-minute substitute, both he and his brother criticised his lack of involvement.
Speaking after the match, Garnacho said: “Up until the final I played every round helping the team, and today I play 20 minutes, I don’t know. The final will influence [my decision] but the whole season, the situation of the club. I’m going to try to enjoy the summer and see what happens afterwards.”
His brother Roberto then said on social media: “Working as no-one else, helping every round, coming from two goals in the last two finals, just to be on the pitch for 19 mins and get thrown under the bus.”
