Joao Pedro of Chelsea

UEFA Conference League holders Chelsea and reigning Champions League winners PSG are set to lock horns in a blockbuster finale at the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup this Sunday.

With the MetLife Stadium in New York/New Jersey set as the setting, both European heavyweights are chasing history in what promises to be a clash for the ages.

The Blues booked their place in the title clash after a Joao Pedro double saw off Brazilian side Fluminense 2-0 in the semis. PSG, meanwhile, produced a dominant display to dismantle Real Madrid 4-0, underlining their credentials as the form team of the competition.

For Enzo Maresca's Chelsea, Sunday's showdown represents an opportunity to carve out a unique slice of football history. Victory would see them become the first English side to win the Club World Cup twice, having previously lifted the trophy in 2021 after edging out Palmeiras.

However, defeat would carry an unwanted distinction; no club has ever lost two finals in the tournament's history, a fate that would haunt Chelsea following their 2012 loss to Corinthians.

On the other side, PSG stand on the verge of a historic breakthrough. Making their debut at the global event, the Parisians could clinch their maiden world crown and put the cherry on top of a flawless season, already boasting four trophies in their cabinet.

A win would not only cement their dominance this year but also etch their name into football's elite circle on the international stage.

The Sporting News looks at the key details ahead of this game, including how to watch the match, kickoff times and the latest lineup news.

Chelsea vs. PSG predicted lineups, team news

Nicolas Jackson has not started since returning from his red card, stuck behind semifinal hero Joao Pedro and new signing Liam Delap up front. Pedro scored a pair against Fluminense in his first start for Chelsea and is likely to be the choice again here, while Delap will be available after missing the semifinals due to yellow card suspension.

Also back from suspension is Levi Colwill, while the status of Romeo Lavia is up in the air as he trains individually after a muscle injury, missing the quarterfinal. Benoit Badiashile was spotted on crutches after the quarterfinal victory over Palmeiras, meaning Tosin Adarabioyo or Trevoh Chalobah will likely retain their spot at the back.

Noni Madueke has played sparingly while rumours swirl of a potential summer transfer, and he's unlikely to be risked unless Chelsea become desperate for attacking injection off the bench.

Chelsea predicted XI (4-2-3-1, right to left): Sanchez (GK) — Gusto, Tosin, Chalobah, Cucurella — Fernandez, Caicedo — Neto, Palmer, Nkunku — Pedro.

Injured:Lavia (muscle, doubt), James (muscle, doubt), W. Fofana (muscle), Kellyman (hamstring), Badiashile (leg).
Suspended:None.

PSG will be without defenders Willian Pacho and Lucas Hernandez after picking up red cards against Bayern Munich. Both received two-game bans, and thus will be absent for this game. Lucas Beraldo was fantastic in place of Pacho against Real Madrid in the semifinal and will likely get another start.

Star forward Ousmane Dembele made his first start in the semifinals after returning from a thigh injury, scoring PSG's second goal against Real Madrid. Bradley Barcola will likely return to his regular substitute role off the bench.

Otherwise, PSG have their full list of regulars available for action, a boon for the reigning Champions League winners who have steamrolled their competition throughout this season.

PSG predicted XI (4-3-3, right to left): Donnarumma (GK) — Hakimi, Marquinhos, Beraldo, Mendes — Neves, Vitinha, F. Ruiz — Doue, Dembele, Kvaratskhelia.

Injured:None.
Suspended:Pacho (red card), L. Hernandez (red card).
